Collegium recommends Justice Biswajit Palit of Tripura High Court to be made permanent judge

The Supreme Court Collegium on Tuesday recommended that Justice Biswajit Palit, an additional judge at the Tripura High Court, be made a permanent judge.

The decision was taken in a meeting held on September 15.

"The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 15th September, 2025 has approved the proposal for appointment of Shri Justice Biswajit Palit, Additional Judge as a Permanent Judge in the High Court of Tripura," the notification read.

Justice Palit entered the Tripura Judicial Service in 2001 and went on to serve in 7 out of the 8 judicial districts of the State in various capacities.

He also held important administrative positions such as Member Secretary of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, Secretary of the Tripura Legislative Assembly and Law Secretary to the Government of Tripura.

He was promoted to the Selection Grade of the Tripura Judicial Service on February 1, 2021 and was elevated as an additional judge of the High Court on October 26, 2023.
