Anand and Anand expands with new hires and internal promotions and adds new practice areas

The firm has hired as many as 26 professionals, including a partner and a senior technocrat, as well as launched a ‘Digital Group’, ‘Branding Practice’, ‘Corporate Practice’, and more creative verticals.

Having turned 100 on this August 15, Anand and Anand has expanded its team size with the onboarding of new professionals from diverse backgrounds besides the existing talent moving up the ranks.

The hirings of as many as 26 professionals, including a partner and a senior technocrat, come at a time when the firm has launched a ‘Digital Group’, ‘Branding Practice’, ‘Corporate Practice’ and the more creative verticals like the ‘Festival Practice’ and ‘The Heritage Practice’, besides expanding its reach through collaborations like Anand and Naik, a JV with Mumbai-based Naik Naik & Co.

The firm has boosted its talent pool with senior technocrat Dr Ajai Garg, who served as Director at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and now heads the firm’s Digital Practice. An Electrical Engineer with a Doctoral Degree from IIT Kanpur, Dr Garg has amassed a wealth of experience and a proven track record for professional excellence having devised and led from the front myriad mission-critical digital transformation initiatives at MeitY. 

Advocate Shailyamanyu Singh is joining the firm’s corporate practice as a partner designate. He brings with him 24 years of legal experience out of which the last 15 years as in-house legal counsel.

The firm has also announced as many as ten promotions, a majority in its litigation team, which includes Managing Associates Siddhant Chamola, Shobhit Agrawal and Vibhav Mithal, rising to the rank of Associate Partners. Four Senior Associates to be promoted to Managing Associates are – Ashutosh Upadhyaya, Devesh Ratan, Rahul Vats, and Ridhie Bajaj. Associate Rohil Bansal has been promoted to Senior Associate; Trainee Nimrat Singh has been confirmed as an associate.

The firm's litigation team stands bolstered with ten new hands on the deck.

Manjeet Singh joins the firm as a Technical Consultant. An experienced patent agent, Singh has worked as senior corporate counsel (Patents) at Wipro Technologies besides having worked with leading law firms.

Gitanjali Sharma and Aditya Kaushik have joined as Senior Associates. Sharma has done masters in IP and Competition from the Munich IP law Centre and went on to work in IPR Policy Research at Ericsson Gmbh, Munich before joining Anand and Anand. Kaushik, a Biotech engineer from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, had his own practice and has also worked at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, in IP litigation team.

Three new Associates joining the firm are – Samya Singh, Apoorva Prasad, and Aditi Srivastava. Singh is a law graduate from Jindal Global Law School and completed her clerkship with Justice Pratibha M Singh leading to a keen interest in IP. Prasad is a law graduate from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University. Before pursuing law, she worked as a tax consultant at Ernst and Young. Srivastava has worked as a researched/ judicial clerk at the Delhi High Court.

Besides these joinings, three trainees and staff have come on board.

Twelve new professionals have come on board the firm's Trademarks and Corporate team including Shailyamanyu Singh.

Deepanshu Aggarwal, an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, has joined the firm with a work experience of 12 years in corporate sector. He has worked extensively in corporate restructuring including Merger & Amalgamation activities, capital reduction, inbound and outbound investment, Secretarial Audit, Due diligence, Corporate Governance Compliance Audit, ESOP implementation, Dividend Distribution, Investor Education and Protection Fund Compliances, rendering opinion on diverse issues under Companies Act, 2013, SEBI Regulations and Foreign Exchange Management Act.

Max India’s in-house counsel Sushmita Ganguly has joined Anand and Anand with 17 years of experience working on a string of corporate and regulatory law matters. Ganguly has extensive experience in transaction advisory work, corporate restructuring, FDI regulations, ecommerce & retail, data privacy, employment laws, POSH, legal metrology, etc.

Anjali Arora has joined the trademarks team as Senior Associate and brings with her seven years of work experience in IP domain.

Ansh Maggo has joined as an associate with around five years of experience in IP Prosecution, opposition and enforcement. Rashi Chandhoke and Shree Misra have come in from a Mumbai-based law firm. Chandhoke has been assisting several Indian and international companies in trademark and design prosecution, opposition and enforcement for over seven years now. An IAPP certified privacy professional focusing on European data protection laws, Misra regularly advises Indian and multinational companies on transactional, compliance and regulatory issues, and has several publications in leading law magazines.

Toshani Mukherjee has joined the firm’s trademark practice with four years’ experience in IP prosecution and enforcement and trademark portfolio management of clients in foreign jurisdictions such as Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Bhutan.

Sehr Anand has joined the firm’s Trademark practice after completing Bachelors of Law from University of Durham, UK. She completed legal practice course from BPP University, UK followed by a bridge course from National Law University, Delhi.

Further, the Firm's Patent and Design team has hired two subsidiary legal talents.
