Divij Kumar quits CMS INDUSLAW to launch independent practice

The new practice will provide clients and businesses with direct access to partner-level advice, strategy, and appearances.

CMS INDUSLAW Partner Divij Kumar has announced the launch of his independent practice under the name Chambers of Divij Kumar.

Kumar is a 2010 graduate of Army Institute of Law, Mohali.

The new practice will provide clients and businesses with direct access to partner-level advice, strategy, and appearances. Kumar is widely recognized for his strategic acumen in shareholder disputes, structuring and insolvency matters, as well as civil litigation before the High Court and Supreme Court.

As an arguing counsel, he regularly appears before the High Court, Supreme Court, NCLT, and NCLAT, bringing sharp litigation skills and deep expertise in complex disputes.

Recognized for his strategic clarity and courtroom advocacy, Kumar has represented clients across sectors including FMCG, banking and finance, renewable energy, hydro power, construction, infrastructure, and real estate. His work has involved significant constitutional challenges.

In addition to his commercial practice, Kumar remains deeply committed to pro bono work, including representation in matters before the Supreme Court involving victims’ rights and access to statutory compensation schemes.

Prior to launching his independent practice, Kumar was a Partner at CMS INDUSLAW for two years. Prior to that, he was associated with Luthra and Luthra for 7 years.

Speaking on the launch, Kumar said,

“Chambers of Divij Kumar is built on the principle of offering clients direct, partner-level engagement. My focus will remain on delivering strategy-driven solutions and strong representation before courts and tribunals.”
