ICICI Group General Counsel Pramod Rao to join SEBI as Executive Director

A graduate of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, Rao had initially joined ICICI Bank in 1996 and worked there for almost sixteen years.

ICICI Bank's Group General Counsel Pramod Rao is likely to join the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) as its Executive Director, according to authoritative sources.

A graduate of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, Rao had initially joined ICICI Bank in 1996 and worked there for almost sixteen years. He headed the legal department from 2005 to 2012.

In 2012, Rao left ICICI for private practice. He set up IndusLaw’s Mumbai office in 2012 to focus on the firm’s banking and finance practice.

In July 2013, he left IndusLaw to join Citibank as General Counsel.

Five years later, in July 2018, he left Citibank to rejoin ICICI as Group General Counsel.

According to SEBI, there are 10 Executive Directors with the last appointment being that of Anand Rajeshwar Baiwar in 2017.
