LKS Partner Karanjot Singh joins DMD Advocates in Direct Tax Practice

Singh has over a decade in direct tax advisory and litigation, he has represented domestic and international clients, including several Fortune 500 companies.

Karanjot Singh Khurana has joined DMD Advocates as a Partner in Direct Tax Practice.

Singh has a combination of dual qualifications as a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and an Advocate, combining the analytical rigour of a chartered accountant with the advocacy skills of a seasoned litigator. With over a decade in direct tax advisory and litigation, he has represented domestic and international clients, including several Fortune 500 companies, before the full spectrum of judicial and quasi-judicial forums, from Assessing Officers and the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) to Income Tax Appellate Tribunals, High Courts, and the Supreme Court of India.

His practice encompasses cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, international tax and transfer pricing, and market entry strategies for foreign entities seeking to establish a presence in India. He has collaborated extensively with reputed foreign law firms on cross-border mandates, providing integrated solutions that navigate both domestic law and applicable tax treaties, covering treaty interpretation, permanent establishment exposure, withholding tax analysis, and income characterisation.

Singh has also advised High Net Worth Individuals and promoter families on estate and succession planning structures, including the use of trusts, LLPs, and holding entities.

Prior to joining DMD Advocates, Singh spent eleven years at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys.
