Kolkata-based firm S Jalan & Co. brought in a diversified level of change across the firm. Sourav Ghosh becomes Managing Partner at the firm, Samrat Sengupta becomes 7th Equity Partner at the firm and Subhomoy Chakraborty gets appointed as the firm's Chief Executive Officer.
Former Equity Partner Sourav Ghosh has been made Managing Partner after over 18 years with the firm.
Ghosh's expertise extends to advising on corporate transactions, corporate documentation, mining leases, joint ventures, prevention of fraud, enforcement of restrictive covenants, bank guarantee matters, Infrastructure Arbitrations, regulatory and disciplinary proceedings, outsourcing, strategic alliances, franchising, e-commerce, etc.
In his new role, Ghosh will be overlooking the critical dynamics of the firm in terms of the current capabilities, diversification scopes in terms of new practice area development, and the firm's vision.
Next in line, a rainmaker for long, Samrat Sengupta, is now an Equity Partner, 7th in the row to have been entrusted with the equity holding in the firm. He has extensive experience in Arbitration before Tribunals and Commercial Litigations in different High Courts and the Supreme Court of India. In addition, he is involved in commercial dispute resolutions, including litigation, Infrastructure arbitration and mediation, regulatory work, company matters, enforcement of restrictive covenants, and bank guarantee matters.
Another elevation in the current announcement of the firm is the appointment of its Chief Executive Officer, Subhomoy Chakraborty, who is also an Associate Partner in the firm. There have been a couple of attorney promotions at the core execution level. Snehashis Sen and Titash Mukherjee have been promoted as Associate Partner at the firm's Kolkata office.
Sen is a law graduate from the University of Calcutta, 2012. His area of practice and experience majorly includes commercial arbitration and several commercial litigations and appearances before High Courts, forums like NCLT, and others.
Mukherjee is a law graduate from the University of Calcutta, 2012 and a Post Graduate in Business Law. Her practice experience includes Real Estate documentation, mortgages, leases, township projects, transactional financial documents for project finances, and focuses on insolvency, dispute resolution, real estate, and general corporate advisory.
