Boutique law firm Sidebar has announced a series of significant leadership and structural developments.

Following months of close collaboration, Shivendra Singh merged his independent practice with Sidebar and joined the firm as a Partner. He will lead the firm’s M&A, Private Equity/Venture Capital, and General Corporate practice, in addition to heading the Noida office. Singh brings with him extensive experience from top-tier law firms, such as DMD Advocates and Nishith Desai Associates, and a successful independent practice, having advised on several marquee transactions.

Commenting on his move, Singh said,

“Having helped many clients on their journeys, this decision is close to my heart. I wanted to build a practice and an organisation in my own image. Sidebar is one of the few firms that genuinely empowers its people to shape the firm’s collective future. I look forward to building a firm with a real difference.”

Earlier, Sidebar had also onboarded Anukrit Gupta as Partner, who leads the firm’s Disputes and Litigation practice and heads the New Delhi office.

Gupta’s induction has further enhanced Sidebar’s litigation and arbitration capabilities, particularly in domestic and cross-border matters. With experience of working with Tier 1 law firms, such as Luthra and Luthra and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, and in handling complex and high-profile disputes, he now leads all disputes-related initiatives, including regulatory matters.

Reflecting on his association with the firm, Gupta said,

“What stood out to me was how clients began trusting Sidebar with matters they had earlier handled elsewhere. That confidence reflects the firm’s credibility. Together, we are building a disputes practice that is responsive, strategic, and deeply client-focused.”

These developments are part of Sidebar’s broader reorganisation and growth strategy under the leadership of its Founding Partner, Purusharth Singh, who continues to lead the firm’s Infrastructure and Natural Resources practice and spearheads its domestic and international expansion initiatives.

Speaking on the firm’s evolving journey, Singh reflected,

“There comes a time in everyone’s life when one is presented with the choice of creating something larger than oneself. For us, Sidebar represents that choice — building a platform in our own true reflection, with people we respect and admire.

As part of the firm’s reorganisation, Singh will focus more actively on international market development, alongside technological and organisational innovation.

“With Shivendra and Anukrit strengthening our core practices, I am now able to focus on building Sidebar for the future — through technology adoption, international partnerships, and new practice areas," he added.
