Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM) today announced that it is offering a salary of ₹20 lakh per annum to entry-level associates.

This is the highest compensation being offered to fresh hires across law firms in the country.

In comparison, S&R Associates and Trilegal are paying around ₹19.8 lakh (as per sources) and ₹19.5 lakh to its entry-level associates, respectively. Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and Khaitan & Co are offering fresh hires around ₹18 lakh per year.

SAM has also revised its associate compensation, with increments based on holistic individual performance evaluation, which also takes into consideration efficiency-based performance.

It is understood that top performers at the firm are on average receiving an increment of 34%.

Commenting on this development, SAM Managing Partner Pallavi Shroff said,
