NLSIU grad Suraj Govindaraj among four appointed as Additional Judges of Karnataka High Court [Read Notification]

The Central Government has notified the appointment of four advocates as Additional Judges to the Karnataka High Court.

A notification issued by the Centre states that advocates Singapuram Raghavachar Krishna KumarAshok Subhashchandra Kinagi, Suraj Govindaraj and Sachin Shankar Magadum have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court, in that order of seniority.

The four new judges have been appointed for a  term of two years from the date they assume charge of their respective offices. 

Among the new appointees, Govindaraj Suraj is an 1995 NLSIU graduate and a partner at Bangalore-based Anup S Shah Law Firm.

The appointment was made pursuant to a Supreme Court Collegium recommendation made in March this year. Apart from the above four names, the Collegium had also recommended four more advocates for elevation as High Court judges. However, today’s notification is silent as regards these additional names.
