Jammu & Kashmir High Court to get 3 new judges

President of India Pranab Mukherjee has given his assent to the appointment of three new judges to the Jammu & Kashmir High Court.

The new judges are Sanjeev Kumar, Maharaj Krishan Hanjura, and Sanjay Kumar Gupta.

While the sanctioned strength of judges of the J&K High Court is 17 including the Chief Justice, at present there are only nine judges – Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed, Justice R Sudhakar, Justice Muhammad Yaqoob Mir, Justice Alok Aradhe, Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Justice Janak Raj Kotwal and Justice Bawa Singh Walia.

Now, with these three new appointments, there will still be shortage of 5 judges.

Recently, a total of 14 judges were appointed to the Bombay High Court.
