India International Jurists LLP (IIJ LLP) is looking to hire/ engage hard-working Advocates in multiple profiles at the New Delhi Office of the firm located at Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi.

Principal Associate (Commercial Litigation and Arbitration)

Positions: 1 (One)

PQE: 7 years

Location: New Delhi

Qualification: Graduate of law holding an LL.B or LL.M degree from any reputed Indian or foreign university. Qualified to practice as an advocate before courts of law and tribunals across India, holding valid and active enrolment with their respective State Bar Council and having passed the AIBE.

Key expectations/ Profile for the position of Principal Associate  (Commercial Litigation and Arbitration):

  • Demonstrable knowledge and practical working experience in various areas of law like commercial law, civil procedural laws, arbitration law, corporate/ company/ securities law, banking and finance law, financial frauds, insolvency law, etc.

  • Sufficient experience in litigation before various fora and specifically having experience in drafting pleadings/ applications for the original commercial jurisdiction, writ petitions, SLPs, etc., more particularly in the field of commercial and corporate laws.

  • Excellent research, analytical, drafting skills, and command over the English language whilst having keen attention to detail.

  • Able to be able to give presentations to the client or their legal team.

  • To be able to ensure research work on the assigned matter with the active involvement of assigned associates.

  • Able to independently draft, vet and settle the pleadings/ applications in the matters assigned in association with the assigned associates of the firm, able to effectively ensure filing and listing of matters, to ensure briefing of matters, where senior advocates are involved.

  • Able to independently argue the miscellaneous applications, interim applications, cross-examine the witnesses, address final arguments etc.

Senior Associate (Energy/ Renewable Energy/ Oil and Gas)

Positions: 1 (One)

PQE: 4 years

Location: New Delhi

Qualification: Graduate of law holding an LL.B or LL.M degree from any reputed Indian or foreign university. Qualified to practice as an advocate before courts of law and tribunals across India, holding valid and active enrolment with their respective State Bar Council and having passed the AIBE.

Key expectations/ Profile for the position of Senior Associate  (Energy/ Renewable Energy/ Oil and Gas):

  • Having mandatory industry specific specialization in power sector/ energy law, renewable energy law, mines and minerals, environmental law, arbitral laws involved in such matters, and having regular exposure of appearances before the concerned courts and tribunals int his regard including concerned Ministries, Arbitral Tribunals, APTEL, PNGRB, NGT etc.

  • Possessing sufficient experience in litigation before various fora and specifically have experience in drafting pleadings/ applications for the original commercial jurisdiction, writ petitions, SLPs, etc., more particularly in the field of energy and commercial laws.

  • Possessing excellent research, analytical, drafting skills, and command over the English language whilst having keen attention to detail.

  • Possessing demonstrable/ verifiable specialization in power sector/ energy law, renewable energy law, mining and environmental law, arbitration law, and having exposure of appearances before the concerned courts and tribunals would be given preference.

  • Able to independently handle the energy sector matters (including Power, renewable, Oil and Gas etc.) Mines and Mineral Sector, Environmental laws etc. as per the instructions of the partners and principal associates of the firm.

  • Able to regularly appear before the concerned courts and tribunals including concerned Ministries, Arbitral Tribunals, APTEL, CERC, DERC, PNGRB, NGT etc.

  • Able to discuss the matters and devise strategies in the Energy Sector matters, mines and minerals matters, environmental matters etc. in consultation with the managing partner/ partners/ principal associates of the firm.

  • Able to be able to give presentations to the client or their legal team.

  • Able to ensure research work on the assigned matter with the active involvement of assigned associates.

  • Able to independently draft, vet and settle the pleadings/ applications in the matters assigned in association with the assigned associates of the firm, able to effectively ensure filing and listing of matters.

  • Able to to ensure briefing of matters, where senior advocates are involved.

  • Able to argue the miscellaneous applications, interim applications, cross-examine the witnesses, address final arguments etc. in consultation with and/ or as per the instructions of the managing partner/ partners/ principal associates of the firm.

Associate (Commercial Litigation)

Positions: 2 (One)

PQE: 2 years

Location: New Delhi

Qualification: Graduate of law holding an LL.B or LL.M degree from any reputed Indian or foreign university. Qualified to practice as an advocate before courts of law and tribunals across India, holding valid and active enrolment with their respective State Bar Council and having passed the AIBE.

Key expectations/ Profile for the position of Associate Advocate (Commercial Litigation):

  • Demonstrable knowledge and practical working experience in various areas of law like commercial law, civil procedural laws, arbitration law, corporate/ company/ securities law, banking and finance law, financial frauds, insolvency law, etc. commensurate to the experience.

  • Sufficient experience in litigation before various fora and specifically have experience in drafting pleadings/ applications for the original commercial jurisdiction, writ petitions, SLPs, etc., more particularly in the field of commercial and corporate laws.

  • Excellent research, analytical, drafting skills, and command over the English language whilst having keen attention to detail.

  • Able to assist and work as per the instructions of the partners and principal associates of the firm in tandem with the senior associates of the firm in the matters assigned.

  • Able to discuss the matters and brief and assist the managing partner/ partners/ principal associates, senior associates of the firm.

  • Able to assist the seniors in finalizing the presentations to the client.

  • Able to ensure research work on the assigned matter under the supervision of the seniors.

  • Able to assist the seniors in the drafting of the pleadings of the matters assigned.

  • Able to ensure filing of the matters under the instructions and supervision of seniors.

  • Able to assist the seniors in preparing the brief for the senior advocates.

  • Able to assist the seniors in arguing the miscellaneous applications, interim applications, cross-examining the witnesses, addressing final arguments etc.

The applicants in all three of the above-mentioned categories must have expertise in/ have the ability to quickly learn all manner of digital processes involved in litigation including e-filing, e-file management, virtual hearings, cause list management, etc. Technological proficiency with computer operating systems and applications including adobe acrobat, word, excel, liquidtext and other virtual platform etc. are mandatory. 

The applicants should be ambitious, committed, dynamic, solution-oriented and demonstrate an ability to excel and take initiative. Good interpersonal and team leader skills are a must.

  • Preference would be given applicants who can demonstrate active involvement in commercial litigation by sharing Orders/ Judgement showing active contribution in litigation proceedings through at least (a)10 Orders (for the Principal Associate/ Senior Associate Positions)/ 5 orders  (for the Associate Position) passed by the High Courts including the High Court of Delhi, and (b) 20 Orders (for the Principal Associate/ Senior Associate Positions)/ 10 orders  (for the Associate Position)  passed by the Districts Courts/ Tribunals/ Arbitral tribunals etc. along with their applications. The said Orders should be recent.

  • Candidates may also attach/ link verifiable articles/write-ups/ blogs etc. published in the area of law in reputed journals/ websites/ publications;
