1. Reckitt Benckiser India Pvt Ltd v. Gillette India Ltd.

Bench: Deepa Sharma, J.

The suit is brought for injunction and damages against an allegedly disparaging video advertisement. Gillette also filed an application for grant of ad interim injunction against Reckitt Benckiser to prevent it from issuing, broadcasting, printing or publishing the impugned advertisement, or in any way disparaging the goodwill and reputation of their products.

Today in Court: The matter was listed for framing of issues.

2. Monsanto Technology LLC and Ors. v. Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd and Ors.

[CS (Comm) 132/2016; Court No. 22 Item No. 15]

Bench: R.K. Gauba, J.

BT cotton seed major Mahyco Monsanto Biotech Ltd’s plea against Nuziveedu Seeds for infringing its trademark and selling seeds beyond the period of license.

In earlier hearings, Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi had argued for Monsanto, stating that the defendants were infringing their patents as well as their trademarks and also stood in violation of the licensing agreement between the parties, which has since been terminated. Subsequently, the bench heard arguments from Chander Lall and Jayant Bhushan. 

Today in Court: The bench heard arguments from Senior Counsel Sudhir Chandra for the defendants and listed the case to hear further arguments tomorrow.
