Centre clears appointment of two lawyers as Allahabad High Court judges

The Allahabad High Court currently has 84 judges as against a sanctioned strength of 160.

The Central government on September 6 cleared the appointment of two advocates as judges of the Allahabad High Court.

The two advocates who have been made judges are:

- Amitabh Kumar Rai, and

- Rajiv Lochan Shukla.

The same was confirmed by Union Minister of State (I/C) for Law & Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal via a post on his official handle on X.

The Allahabad High Court currently has 84 judges as against a sanctioned strength of 160.

The Collegium had recently recommended appointment of 26 new judges to the High Court. The said recommendations are awaiting government clearance.
