District & Sessions Judge, North-West (Rohini) has tested positive for COVID-19, sources have claimed.
Apart from the Judge (name withheld), his wife has also tested positive for the virus and they are presently undergoing treatment.
Consequently, his court staff and judges who came in his contact recently are now in quarantine.
Advocate Mahavir Sharma, President, Rohini Court Bar Association has informed that all steps were and are being taken to control the spread of the virus in Rohini Court Complex.
In response to videos on social media calling lawyers to sit on strike on June 8 to re-start physical hearings, Sharma has clarified that no such appeal has been made by Rohini or any other Bar Association of the city.
"Our motto is stay home, stay safe. Allowing courts to start physical hearing would be disastrous. Till now there have been no cases of lawyers getting infected at work only because at present, there are no physical hearings.", he said.
Since March 2020, courts in Delhi have limited their functioning to hearing only urgent matters, majorly through video conferencing.
In spite of the restrictions, there have been cases of court employees and Judges testing positive for COVID-19.
Recently, a Supreme Court Judge was also constrained put himself in quarantine after his cook tested positive for COVID-19.
