Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi informed the Supreme Court today that the Centre has acted on all files pertaining to judicial appointments..Out of the seventy-seven recommendations, he said that thirty-four have been cleared, while forty-three have been sent back to the Collegium for reconsideration. Handing over a chart to the Bench, Rohatgi said,.“As far as we are concerned, not a single file is pending with us. Thirty-four are done while forty-three have been sent back.”.The AG then told the Bench that the Supreme Court has not yet responded to the draft Memorandum of Procedure. Chief Justice of India TS Thakur replied that the Collegium would meet soon; the case has now been listed for November 18..When the matter was last heard, the Bench had come down heavily on the Central government for failing to act on the files. Thakur CJ. had nearly summoned officials from the Prime Minister’s office before Rohatgi had sought time to take action.
