Seeking anticipatory bail before a Jammu court, Advocate Deepika Rajawat has submitted that the BJP IT cell gave "communal colour" to her tweet which recently sparked a furore across social media..She has stated that the tweet in question aimed to highlight the increasing number of rapes in the country..The application filed by Advocates Alok Bambroo and Jahanzaib A Hamal states that Deepika Rajawat faces an FIR under Sections 294 (obscene acts), 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings) and 505 (B)(2) (mischief). This, after a "false and frivolous complaint" was filed by one Rakesh Bajrangi, who "extended death threats" to Rajawat..The tweet in question was posted by Rajawat on the occasion of Navratri:.Rajawat claims that the picture in her tweet was not intended to cause communal disharmony. The application states,"Said picture highlights the hypocrisy in the society towards women and was not about religion. It neither abuses Hindu religion nor religious faith of Hindus.".She adds that she tweeted the above picture to bring out "irony", "with an objective to raise voice against increasing rape cases in India and condemn people who commit atrocities upon women"..The bail plea states that the "ruling BJP IT Cell gave a communal colour to the tweet" and started an online campaign against her on social media demanding her arrest using #arrestdeepikasinghrajawat..Furthermore, the application states that on October 19 itself, the Bajrang Dal protested outside her residence, and extended death threats. Rajawat claims that they chanted the following slogan:"Deepika teri kabar khudegi Jammu Kashmir ke dharti pe." (Deepika your grave will be dug in the land of Jammu & Kashmir)..Rajawat has thus claimed that the FIR is an "attempt to malign her image, silence voice and threaten her extensively.".Sessions Judge Sanjeev Gupta will hear the case tomorrow.
