The Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) yesterday felicitated Senior Counsel Harish Salve on his Padma Bhushan award at a ceremony held at The Hyatt Regency in New Delhi..Salve was presented a memento of appreciation by SILF President Lalit Bhasin, PH Parekh, Cyril Shroff, Rajiv Luthra, Jyoti Sagar and Rohan Shah..In the release, Salve commented,.“I feel very proud but also humbled by this award by the Society of Indian Law Firms. The judiciary has over the six plus decades grown into a powerful institution of constitutional governance. The bar is an integral part of the Court and any recognition of service by a lawyer is a tribute to this great institution which gives each one- irrespective of caste, creed or colour- the chance to rise to their potential and serve the cause of development of the law.”.Lalit Bhasin said,.“It is a moment of great pride and honour for the legal community. The variety and nature of litigation Mr. Salve has been involved in, holds him in a different league all together. His honesty and dedication have not only been widely appreciated but have had considerable influence on some of the most important policy decisions impacting the country”..He added,.“Not only has he been instrumental in voicing opinions in the field of corporate law but also on social evils that face our society. The new generation has a lot to learn from this pragmatic personality and we thank him for him being such an integral part of our legal society.”.SILF had earlier changed its stance on allowing the entry of foreign law firms into India, albeit in a phased manner.
