In a major reshuffle in the higher judiciary, the Supreme Court Collegium is considering transfer of 14 High Court judges.
Among those proposed to be transferred include Justice Arun Monga, who was only last month transferred to Delhi High Court from Rajasthan High Court. His parent High Court is Punjab and Haryana.
The Collegium also plans to recommended the transfer of Justice Atul Sreedharan, the senior-most judge at Madhya Pradesh High Court after Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, to Chhattisgarh High Court.
However, Supreme Court Collegium is yet to release a public statement on the proposed transfers. Sources said only some minor formalities are pending before the list of proposed transfers is sent to the Union government in a day or two for confirmation.
The other judges likely to be recommended to be transferred include,
- Justice Sanjay Agarwal - Chhattisgarh High Court to Allahabad High Court;
- Justice J Nisha Banu - Madras High Court to Kerala;
- Justice Dinesh Mehta - Rajasthan High Court to Delhi;
- Justice Avneesh Jhingan - Rajasthan High Court to Delhi;
- Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh - Allahabad High Court to Madras;
- Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal - Allahabad High Court to Calcutta;
- Justice Manavendranath Roy - Gujarat High Court to Andhra Pradesh;

This would be the second time that the Supreme Court Collegium is recommending a major reshuffle in the High Courts in recent past.
On May 26, the Collegium had recommended transfer of 22 judges. On the same day, the Chief Justices of four High Courts were recommended to be changed. Most of these recommendations were subsequently cleared by the Union government.
