Supreme Court of India will re-open tomorrow after summer vacation..The Court had closed on May 11. Despite being closed for summer break, vacation Benches sat through out the 53-day long vacation to hear urgent matters..The Court will also see many changes post the summer vacation..Many court rooms have been re-numbered and some of the court rooms have been made bigger by adding additional court rooms..The most significant change, however would be the new website. The new website of the Supreme Court was launched in May this year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a much publicized event at Vigyan Bhavan. However, the court had closed by then and the new website was still not fully functional..With the court re-opening now, lawyers would have to migrate to the new website. The Supreme Court Registrar has already issued a notice asking all advocates-on-record (AORs) to register themselves on the new website..Only after registration can the AORs access the integrated case management system, which is the key feature of the site, and avail other facilities in the programme. They are also required to update their personal information in order to avoid inconvenience..Besides, the Court is also seized of certain politically sensitive cases like challenge to Aadhaar, Cattle Rules etc. which are likely to be heard this month. The judgment in Triple Talaq case is also awaited.
