Khaitan & Co advises Reliance on Meta AI data centre setup in Gujarat

The facility is expected to support Meta’s AI infrastructure requirements in India.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has partnered with Meta for the setup of an artificial intelligence (AI) data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

Under the agreement, Reliance will build a 168-megawatt data centre, which Meta will lease for its AI and computing requirements.

Khaitan & Co advised Reliance Industries on the transaction. The transaction team was led by Partners Atman Desai, Mudit Shah and Divya Chaturvedi.

The team also included Hetashri Khajanchi (Senior Associate), Vivan Jhaveri (Associate) and Vidhi Patel (Associate).

Desai said in a LinkedIn post that Khaitan & Co had advised and collaborated with the RIL team on the “landmark, complex data center transaction.”

Reliance and Meta recently announced a partnership for an AI-enabled data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The facility is expected to support Meta’s AI infrastructure requirements in India.

The transaction comes amid rising demand for large-scale data centre infrastructure, driven by artificial intelligence, cloud computing and digital services.

Moneycontrol had reported that Reliance Industries shares gained over 2 per cent after the announcement of the Meta partnership for the AI data centre in Gujarat.
