TT&A, Garuda Legal advise IFC on sanctioning $20 million unsecured loan to Bank of Bhutan

The proposed transaction will be one of the most significant investments under Bhutan’s external commercial borrowing framework.

International Finance Corporation is set to make an unsecured loan of $20 million available to Bank of Bhutan, which is the oldest and largest commercial bank in Bhutan.

TT&A advised IFC on this transaction.

The transaction team consisted of Gautam Saha (Managing Partner), Ambarish Mohanty (Partner), Ankita Mandal (Managing Associate) and Sangita Sharma (Associate).

Garuda Legal Services advised IFC on Bhutanese law matters.

The Bank of Bhutan shall utilize the funds for on-lending to eligible sub-borrowers including MSMEs. The proposed transaction will be one of the most significant investments under Bhutan’s external commercial borrowing framework.
