Bar & Bench

SS Rana & Co is looking to hire to the positions of Patent Associate-Patent Agent, Associate Advocate-Litigation Non IP, Associate Advocate-IP Prosecution and Associate Advocate-Litigation IP in Delhi.

Patent Associate / Patent Agent

PQE: 1- 3 Years

Educational Qualification: B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Sc./ M.Sc./ M.E/ MTech.

Job Profile

  • Conducting Prior Art searches on paid and free databases.

  • Preparing IP opinions (patentability, FTO, invalidity).

  • Creating initial understanding of the invention, creating search strategies, executing search strategies.

  • Drafting Provisional and Complete Specifications for patent applications

  • Drafting and handling response to office actions in India and all other compliance requirements as per the applicable patent law.

  • Attending to Examination reports and Office Actions by giving technical arguments (written and verbal) and attending hearings at the Indian Patent Office (in case of registered patent agents)

  • Assisting in patent oppositions and providing technical support to the enforcement activities through research and analysis of recent cases etc.

  • Patent Application filing and prosecution in India and worldwide, including PCT.

Desired Skills

  • Self-motivated, proactive and hardworking. Ability to listen and anticipate.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to meet stringent deadlines, adapt to changing priorities.

  • Knowledge of Indian Patent Laws, USA and EPO Patents laws.

Patent agent would be an added advantage.

Associate Advocate-Litigation Non IP

PQE: 1- 5 Years

Education: LLB (3 years or 5 years)/ LLM

Job Profile and Requirements

  • Experience in drafting of suits, written statements, writs, counter affidavits, rejoinders, appeals, contempt petitions, miscellaneous applications, affidavits, drafting of various commercial agreements, proofreading, editing, etc.

  • Should have experience in suit for recovery, suit for declaration, possession and injunction, specific performance of the contract etc.

  • Experience in initiating, defending and/or managing litigation.

  • Should be aware of the changing legal scenario and be able to do careful analysis of the case.

  • Prior experience should be there in appearance before district courts of Delhi, High Court. Appearance at outstation Courts / Tribunals will be an added advantage

  • Coordination, communication and planning across attorney teams who are handling multiple client matters.

  • Should have experience in handling Civil and Commercial matters. Experience in handling Criminal matters would be an added advantage

  • Independent, self-starter and self-motivated.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Office, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.

Associate Advocate-IP Prosecution

PQE: 2-5 Years

Education: LLB (3 years or 5 years)/ LLM

Job Profile and Requirements

  • Trademark Searches and Opinion.

  • Filing and Prosecution of Trademark Applications and providing legal opinion on Trademark matters.

  • Preparing, maintaining and updating client trademark portfolio

  • Ability to handle client queries on IP Practices in India and draft legal opinions.

  • Ability to prepare Notice of Opposition as well as Counter-Statement Reply, Notices and Rejoinders.

  • Oppositions/Cancellations/Rectifications and affidavits

  • Attending show cause hearings at the Trademark Registry

  • Managing and Maintaining IP filings, prosecution and renewals.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment..

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Highly organized with an ability to prioritize and multitask.

Desired Skills

  • Independent, self-starter and self-motivated.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Office, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.

Associate Advocate-Litigation IP

PQE: 1- 5 Years

Education: LLB (3 years or 5 years)/ LLM

Job Profile and Requirements

  • Prior experience in commercial litigation, and knowledge of IPR.

  • Drafting of suit plaint, written statement, interim applications, written submissions, etc.

  • Prior experience in appearing before various courts in Delhi.

  • Open to travel to south Delhi and all district courts and Delhi high courts.

  • Be flexible and available for working on weekends depending on urgent work requirements.

  • Coordination, communication and planning across attorney teams who are handling multiple client matters.

Desired Skills

  • Analytical bent of mind, expected to give valid and effective solutions to clients.

  • LLB with experience of IP Litigation

  • Independent, self-starter and self-motivated.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Office.

  • Strong focus on thought leadership.

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities.

  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

  • Excellent Research skills.

  • Excellent comprehension and presentation skills.
