The Kerala government on Wednesday appointed advocate Mohammed Shah PA as Additional Advocate General (AAG) of the state.

Shah was appointed after the government accepted the resignations of Additional Advocates General KP Jayachandran and Ashok M Cherian.

The appointment comes days after the newly elected United Democratic Front (UDF) government assumed office in Kerala following the regime change in the state.

Earlier this week Chief Minister VD Satheesan had announced the appointment of Senior Advocate Jaju Babu as Advocate General and advocate T Asaf Ali as the Director General of Prosecution (DGP) for the state.

Shah has over 26 years of practice before the Kerala High Court. He served as Senior government pleader for the state between 2011 and 2014 and had also been a Central government counsel for nearly a decade from 2004 to 2014.

He has appeared as the standing counsel for Indian Railways, various public sector undertakings and local self-government institutions.
