Amarchand Mangaldas has won this year’s Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) – Khushal T-20 cricket tournament against Kochhar & Co. Amarchand won by 36 runs in an exciting match that was held on Sunday night in Delhi. Kochhar had not lost even a single match in the whole tournament.

Lalit Bhasin who is the President of SILF in his closing speech said, “Amarchand truly deserved to win the SILF Tournament as apart from being the best cricket team in the tournament they were a genuine team consisting of professional lawyers and staff members associated with their Firm”. He further added that “Amarchand by winning this tournament has helped us retain the true spirit of the tournament”.
Amarchand batted first and set a target of 175 for Kochhar. Amarchand had a good opening partnership of 100 runs between Prashant Mehta and Vaibhav Mishra. Prashant Mehta led the batting department and scored a blazing 101 of 58 balls.
Kochhar began the run chase poorly, losing two wickets in the second over to the bowling of Mazid Khan. However, Kochhar did a good come back by scoring a quick 80 runs in 7 overs. The turning point of the match came when Varun Bajaj took 3 quick wickets in a span of 4 overs and disrupting Kochhar’s batting order. Amarchand displayed tight bowling and fielding. Kochhar were able to only score 139 runs in 20 overs and they lost the match by 36 runs.
Speaking to Bar & Bench, winning captain Manu Nair said, “It was a memorable victory for us since we were pitted up against the best teams in the semis as well as finals and that it was a team effort which got us through in the end”.
Prashant Mehta was declared the man of the match for his quick knock of 101 from 58 balls.
Additionally, Prashant Mehta’s and Varun Bajaj’s name have been nominated for the ‘Best Batsman’ and ‘Best Bowler’ of the tournament, respectively.
Last year Luthra & Luthra were the winners of the SILF Khushal trophy beating Amarchand by 6 wickets.
