Pranav Mago, who used to head the South Asia desk of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), has established ELF Partners as a specialist consultancy for litigation finance in Asia.

ELF Partners works with litigants, counsel and funders to help identify potential litigation financing opportunities, advise on available options, explore the mechanics of these options, and help secure the best possible finance solution based on the needs and preferences of all stakeholders.

The consulting firm, along with global litigation financiers, seeks to help educate the market about the intricacies involved in litigation finance.

Speaking about the newly established firm, Mago said,

“Litigation finance is increasingly becoming a popular choice for litigants to pursue their claims. The pandemic has further made this option attractive as even well-capitalised companies are looking to keep more working capital in hand and to write off litigation costs in their accounts.

At ELF, we strive to get high quality claims funded by the right funder at the best possible terms. We present a claim as a potential investment to a funder only after assessing its viability on three core parameters: Legal Merits, Quantum Analysis and Asset Tracing. Global industry experts help us in this analysis. We have been fortunate that in our little experience we have already been able to help Indian claimants secure funding to pursue their international arbitration matters and hope to see a lot more traction in the near future.”

Pranav is a 2010 graduate of Amity Law School. He joined SIAC in 2015 and was based in its Mumbai office. Prior to joining SIAC, he was working with the International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution team of UK Magic Circle firm, Clifford Chance in Singapore.

ELF Partners has teams in Singapore and India catering to clients from all over Asia as well as other parts of the world.
