In a move that could reflect the direction of Indian investment outside the country, Delhi basd KR Chawla & Co has entered into a “preferred referral relationship” with Rome-based SC Legal Consulting. The non-exclusive agreement was entered into by KRC & Co’s Managing Partner, Harvansh P Chawla and SC Legal’s Managing Partner, Stefano Cardinale.

Explaining the move, Harvansh Chawla (pictured) said that this relationship is by no means a novel one. “Several firms have entered into such agreements,” says Chawla, “and some have been very successful.” Chawla also stressed on the need for law firms to grow and build networks to ensure a successful practice.

As per a press note released by the firm, KRC & Co has offices in New Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai as well as a “representative office” in Singapore. The firm works across various practice areas including corporate law, international taxation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

Chawla says, “There is certainly a trend of Indian companies investing in Europe and we want to focus on this.” As per the press note, this agreement is meant to capitalize on the increasing number of cross-border transactions taking place between European countries and India.

On the current lull in the markets as well as policy uncertainty at the governmental level, Chawla says that these are “temporary phases” and that these problems will be eventually resolved.
