Former CJI BR Gavai joins NALSAR as Dr BR Ambedkar Chair Professor

The Dr BR Ambedkar Chair on constitutional law and social inclusion has been established with financial support from the Telangana government.

National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad has appointed former Chief Justice of India BR Gavai as the inaugural Dr BR Ambedkar Chair Professor on constitutional law and social inclusion.

Senior Advocate K Parameshwar has been appointed as an adjunct professor associated with the Chair.

Justice Gavai will head research, teaching and academic initiatives in the areas of constitutional law, access to justice and social inclusion as part of the duties as Chair Professor.

The Dr BR Ambedkar Chair on constitutional law and social inclusion has been established with financial support from the Telangana government.

NALSAR will recruit researchers under the Chair to host activities such as academic programmes, policy-oriented studies, public engagement initiatives and to launch thematic research projects that align with the Chair's mandate.

Earlier this year, former Chief Justices of India DY Chandrachud and Sanjiv Khanna joined National Law University, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh National University, Shimla respectively as Distinguished Professors. Former Supreme Court Justice Abhay S Oka joined Pravin Gandhi College of Law as Professor of Practice.
