IC RegFin Legal advises Nippon Life India AIF on $79 million investment from DWS

With this investment, DWS will acquire a 40% equity stake in NLIAIF.

Nippon Life India AIF Management Limited has entered into agreements in relation to an investment by DWS Group GmbH & Co. KGaA of $79.33 million (~₹733 crores).

With this investment, DWS will acquire a 40% equity stake in NLIAIF, thereby formalising its position as a significant minority shareholder and strategic partner.

IC RegFin Legal advised Nippon Life India AIF on this transaction.

The transaction was led by Tejesh Chitlangi (Managing Partner) and Vartika Koolwal (Partner), with the core team comprising of Leelavathi Naidu (Senior Partner), Pooja Mehta (Partner) and Praroop Jain (Partner) (from the investment funds and regulatory team) and Puneet Shah (Senior Partner), Abhishek Singh (Senior Associate) and Viloni Dedhia (Associate) (from the transactions team).

Nippon India Alternative Investments

Nippon Life India AIF is a Mumbai-based asset manager in Category II and Category III alternative investment funds and a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Life India Asset Management. NLIAIF has launched over 22 funds and raised commitments exceeding USD 1 billion (approximately INR 8,500 crores), since inception.

Through this joint venture, DWS and NLIAIF aim to develop a leading, scalable alternatives platform, for both Indian and global investors, by combining NAMI’s long-standing market and investment expertise in India with DWS’ global reach and product capabilities. Beyond the equity collaboration, DWS and NAMI will pursue strategic partnerships across passive investment solutions and global distribution of actively managed India-focused strategies, through DWS’s international network.
