Khaitan & Co has announced the opening of its new office in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), signalling its entry into one of India’s fastest-growing financial and commercial centres.

The new office marks a notable step in the Firm’s ambitious roadmap, following the opening of its Ahmedabad office in 2024.

The new office will bring together the Firm’s capabilities across financial services, corporate and M&A, investment funds, regulatory, dispute resolution, project finance, real estate, tax and aviation, reflecting the diverse legal requirements for companies across sectors, industries and business lifecycles.

As India’s premier International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), GIFT City has emerged as a focal point for cross-border finance, investment structuring and global business activity, and has seen increased demand for sophisticated legal and regulatory expertise.

Speaking on the new office, Haigreve Khaitan, Managing Partner, Khaitan & Co, commented,

“Gujarat has emerged as an important hub for industrial growth, investment and economic development, making it a strategically significant region. Our new GIFT City office has been a natural next step for the Firm, enabling us to operate closer to a burgeoning financial ecosystem that is transforming global business dynamics. This move also allows us to engage more closely with our clients through specialised expertise across financial services, regulatory advisory and complex transactions, and build enduring partnerships.”

Siddharth Shah, Senior Partner, Khaitan & Co, added,

“GIFT City has strongly emerged as a key centre for global financial and commercial activity in India, supported by a distinct regulatory framework and rising global participation. Growth in areas such as GCCs, Global Treasury Centres, family office structuring, cross-border investment platforms and international debt capital market are creating unique opportunities within the IFSC ecosystem. Our new office enhances our ability to support clients and we are excited to be part of this growth journey.”

With this addition, GIFT City becomes Khaitan & Co’s second office in Gujarat, alongside Ahmedabad, widening the Firm’s footprint while remaining closely integrated with its pan-India and international network. The Firm now has eight offices in India and one in Singapore.
