Sudipta Chakraborty appointed whole-time director at Sanofi India

Chakraborty has been serving as General Counsel – India at Sanofi since June 2025. Her elevation comes within nine months of joining the company in that role.

Sanofi India has appointed its legal head Sudipta Chakraborty as an Additional Director and Whole-time Director for a three-year term beginning March 1, 2026, elevating her to the board of the listed pharmaceutical company.

The appointment was approved by the Board of Directors at its meeting held on February 25, 2026 and is subject to shareholder approval. Chakraborty will also be designated as a Key Managerial Personnel and Senior Management Personnel of the company.

Chakraborty has been serving as General Counsel – India at Sanofi since June 2025. Her elevation comes within nine months of joining the company in that role.

According to the company’s regulatory filing, Chakraborty brings over two decades of multi-faceted legal experience, having built and led legal, compliance and taxation teams across jurisdictions, with particular focus on the Asia-Pacific and China regions.

Prior to Sanofi, she served as Vice President – Group Legal & Compliance at the Aditya Birla Group from February 2024 to May 2025. Based in Mumbai, she was part of the conglomerate’s Global Legal Leadership Team and served as Group Head – Governance & Compliance, Intellectual Property and Internal M&A and restructuring.

Earlier, she was General Counsel and Head of Compliance at RoundGlass from August 2020 to February 2024, with responsibilities spanning the United States and India. Between 2019 and 2020, she was APAC Head – Global Corporate Tax and Tax Technology at FMC Corporation, where she led special projects including the rollout of compliance and tax technology across Asia, including China.

Before that, Chakraborty spent six years at Adient as APAC Leader – Legal, Compliance and Taxation, overseeing cross-border legal and compliance functions across the region.

Chakraborty is a 2005 graduate of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, where she earned her BA LLB (Hons) degree.
