Former Delhi High Court judge Justice JR Midha joins NLU Delhi as Professor of Practice

Justice Midha, who joined Galgotias University as a Professor after his retirement, had also earlier taught at Campus Law Centre, Delhi University.

Former Delhi High Court judge Justice JR Midha has joined National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) as Professor of Practice.

"We are honoured to announce that Hon’ble Mr. Justice J.R. Midha, Former Judge, Delhi High Court, is joining NLU Delhi as Professor of Practice. The University will benefit immensely with his expertise and experience in building research & academic capacity," NLU Delhi said in an announcement on its website.

After demitting office as a judge of the Delhi High Court in 2021, Justice Midha joined Galgotias University as Professor.

Prior to his elevation as a judge in 2008, Justice Midha practiced law for over 26 years. From 1989 to 1992, he also taught at Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, Delhi University. He taught various subjects including Code of Civil Procedure, Indian Evidence Act, Transfer of Property Act, Delhi Rent Control Act, Limitation Act, Arbitration Act, Motor Vehicles Act, Court Fees Act, Suit Valuation Act, Indian Registration Act and Indian Stamp Act.

There has been increasing trend of former judges joining law schools to give back to academia. Former Chief Justice of India UU Lalit recently joined Jindal Global Law School as a Distinguished Jurist and Professor of Law & Justice. In January this year, retired Supreme Court judge Justice Indira Banerjee joined NUJS Kolkata as a Visiting Professor.
