J Sagar Associates (JSA) has hired Madhurima Mukherjee Saha as an Equity Partner with effect from April 1, 2021.

She will be based out of Delhi, consolidating the firm's Capital Markets and Securities practice along with Mumbai Partner Arka Mookerjee.

Welcoming her as a formal member of the firm, JSA Joint Managing Partners Amit Kapur and Vivek Chandy said in a press release,

"We are delighted to have Madhurima join us and wish her a long and mutually beneficial association with JSA."

Madhurima has previously worked with Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Luthra & Luthra (now L&L Partners) and AZB & Partners.

After she announced that she would be leaving AZB in April last year, she was hired as a Senior Consultant for JSA in June. Speaking on her move to the firm's equity partnership, she said,

“When I quit last year, I thought I am done with law firms. But working as a consultant showed me how JSA follows international best practices, is equitable at every level and creates a very supportive work environment. The partners here have been exceedingly warm and welcoming. Bankers, our primary clients, only had words of praise for Arka and team. So, I was finding it more and more difficult to find reasons as to why I should not be doing this fulltime again.

I am very excited to be formally part of JSA. We have identified and hired a highly skilled team, who will be supporting us out of Delhi and adding to the bench strength of Mumbai. I am confident that together we will provide the best legal support to our clients.”

Last year, Madhurima had also donned the role of Chief Mentor at Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access (IDIA). She has been closely involved with IDIA and worked with its founder, the late Prof (Dr) Shamnad Basheer.
